Students who take courses during the regular school year can receive accommodation with a short extension, depending on their needs, provided both the school district and New Jersey Virtual School™ approve of the extension period.
Extensions that extend beyond the school year term and into the Summer term will not be considered unless extenuating circumstances exist that have prevented the student from completing the coursework on time. Students should log in daily to keep up with their assignments. Courses are open 24/7, and students can work at any time, including weekends, to maintain academic progress.
For summer school students: As a policy, NJVS™ does not permit extensions for summer school students. However, it recognizes extenuating circumstances where a student may need a bit more time.
To request an extension, please submit a request to NJVS™ (at least five days before the end of the semester) by going to help.njvs.org. If approved, you must pay a $100 course extension fee (non-refundable) before NJVS™ extends the course.
Please note: Extenuating circumstances do not include family vacation, summer camp, or simply falling behind. Following a review of the request, NJVS™ will notify the student of approval or denial. A non-refundable extension fee ($100 per course) will apply unless the extension is due to illness and the student provides a doctor's note to the NJVS™ office.
